Self Portraits

 Room 2 has been creating self-portraits as part of their Art Inquiry. 
We learnt about the importance of the different lines on our face and how they make us who we are.

      Thank you for commenting on our blog we really enjoy reading them and replying.
      First Miss Pownall took a photo of us then we traced it on a laminating sheet and painted the back now there is a white piece of paper that makes it stand out.
      Whats your favourite type of art?

      Hi Kerrie! Thanks for commenting on our blog! We started with a picture of us, and then Miss Pownall printed them out! Then, she asked us to put a clear folder on top, and start tracing ourselves. The next day Miss Pownall set up cloths on our table and used Ice-cream lids so we could paint ourselves! For the last step she put a white piece of paper behind it once it was dry. It was very fun!

      Aloha Kerrie!

      Thank you for the awesome comment, well, how we did it is really cool we [Miss Pownall] took pictures of us and we traced it onto a laminating sheet. Then we flipped it over and painted on the back. We made the paint really bold and bright so it would be eye catching.

      Hello Kerrie,

      The portraits were very fun to do. The process started with a laminating sheet over a photo of ourselves then tracing it with vivid after that turn it over and paint! I am so glad you enjoyed them. Would you ever make a self portrait?

      We used some vived to outline a picture on some lamenting sheet that Ms Pownal bout and she took of us and then we painted the back of the lamenting sheet.

      The art was quite challenging but it was worth it in the end. Everyone in room 2 got our picture taken, after Miss Pownall printed the pictures out we traced over them laminated then we went of to the painting.

      miss Pownall took a photo of us then we had to go over us with marker
      then we so we get an out line of us then we panted it on the same paper
      then we had to wait for it to dry then when we got back to school thay
      were on the wall.

      I am glad you loved them. The art was a bit tricky to do but we traced a photo of ourselves then painted it! It was very fun mostly the painting though! Have you ever done a self portrait before? If so was it good?

      Hello Jackie! Thank you so much for commenting on our blog. Miss Pownall took a picture of each of us and then we traced over a laminating sheet with our pictures underneath. Once we had traced we went straight to painting we had to mix lots of colours together to make skin colours, hair and lips!

      Miss Pownall took photos of us in Room Rua then we traced on a clear file, then we painted the back of the sheet when we had finished the tracing part.

    Thank you you for saying they are amazing and could tell who each of us where! Yes it was very fun to do so. First Miss Pownall took a photo of us then we put plastic around the photo and traced every thing we could see. last we painted one side and ta da done!

    Ki Ora Kerrie. That you for commenting on our self portraits!
    First Miss Pownall took images of us and on a folder we got vivid and drew our outline on the folder. Then we painted on the inside of the folder and they dried on a rack, held up by hooks. When they dried Miss Pownall got white A4 paper and put them inside the folder. Did you notice any of us?

    Yes it was fun. how we made the Self Portraits Miss powall took a photo of as than we traced on a laminating sheet and paint the back.

Weeks 8/9 Term 1

 Room 2 has been working hard in the lead-up to the Easter holidays!  Week eight:  In week eight we researched the history of our school to add detail to our reports. We were lucky enough to interview Ms Daines who had a lot of knowledge about NBC and its history.  We also took some time to read and explore the time capsule which was placed under the old school toilets in 1994. While we explored the time capsules, we took down notes in our books of important information to add to our reports.  Here are some of Room two's thoughts:  "I loved seeing all of the ways that NBC has changed" -Jacob  "It was cool to know what happened when other people were here and finding interesting dates" -Quinn  "It was cool seeing how NBC has changed and some of the connections we had to the people who wrote the time capsule" -Samuel  "It was interesting seeing what people in 1994 thought the future would be like" -Paige  "I enjoyed finding out the names o...

The end of term 1!

The end of term 1 was filled with fun!  We had an educational and interactive time learning about food and nutrition with Brittany from Foodstuffs. This began with some learning in the classroom about the importance of reading food labels.  It was then followed up with a trip to Pak'n'Save where we could use our knowledge in the real world.    We were lucky to have another special visitor who taught the class about rhythm and decibels. This interactive activity helped us to expand our musical knowledge.  This term room 2 has been working hard to secure their class reward. After a lot of effort and time showing the school virtues and seeking excellence in our learning- we reached our goal!  The students voted for a blanket fort and PJ afternoon- It was a super way to end a fantastic first term. Week three of Term 1 (Camp!)

In week 3 Room 2 set off on an adventure to Arthur's Pass!  It was a fun-filled week that included lots of scenic hikes, hut building, cooking, sensory trails (and more).  Some of the highlights in Room 2 were:  "Seeing the massive waterfall at the end of The Devil's Punchbowl walk"  "Being able to lead the walking group which was my camp goal"  "Playing spotlight and the fun games like 'sneak up on bacon'" "Going to a place I have never been to before and seeing new things" Below is a short video showing the year five and six camp highlights!  Ngā mihi,  Helena Pownall
