Week seven of Term 1

Image
Week seven was full of anticipation for the arrival of Harold at New Brighton Catholic. Siobhan and the Life Education team taught us about how we can keep both the physical and mental aspects of ourselves healthy. She taught us the key elements that we need as part of our journey of life.  On Thursday we took our writing books out and went for a walk around the school to gather information. We learned about our school's history as well as new aspects of New Brighton Catholic. We will be using the information we collected to write reports.  The members of room 2 in the cooking elective were able to use the create spaces in the new building. They used their culinary skills to make rice bubble slice!  We finished the week with a visit from Harold himself and a dance party in the Harold bus!  Haere rā,   Miss Pownall

Week 6 was a week for the arts in Room 2!  On Tuesday we were lucky enough to enjoy a visit from Duffy Theatre! They entertained the Years 1-6 children with a lesson-filled show.  On Wednesday we completed our thank you letters to the architect team that designed our new buildings. We published our letters onto a template that Matias RX in our class designed. The template is an outline of the new building that he drew!  On Thursday we visited the town hall to watch The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. They showed us their rendition of Peter and The Wolf.  Different instruments that they played represented different characters!  On Friday we enjoyed buddy reading and had some time creating art depicting ourselves as a lego character!  Overall it was a productive and fun week of school in Room 2!  Haere rā and enjoy your weekend,  Helena Pownall

Week five of Term 1

Week five was a busy week in Room 2! On Monday our class waka was finally complete. The whakatauki 'He waka eke noa' (we are all on this journey together)  will be with us for all of 2021.  Throughout the week all of the students worked hard for our PAT and E-asttle tests.  On Thursday our whole class went to mass with Room 6. We have a special mass twice a term and it was great to be able to share this experience with a junior class. After mass, we were treated to another music lesson with Mrs. Moore!  The students finished a busy week of testing with an awesome time at swimming sports!  Room 2 gave it their best effort at Rawhiti school pool. There was an opportunity at the end for free time where the students enjoyed the sunny weather!  Haere rā,                                                            ...
